Every month, our students learn about a different leadership character trait and have the opportunity to earn Liberty Leader tickets. They can earn tickets by being good examples of the current trait. At the end of the month, faculty, staff, and students have an assembly to celebrate how well the students have learned and implemented the character trait. The assembly is a fun activity for everyone and includes music, dancing, games, treats, and a special visit from our community “Hidden Hero.”

In addition to playing games at the assembly, we recognize one student from each class for being an outstanding example of the trait. These “Liberty Leaders” are chosen by their peers and are recognized at the assembly. They are given a certificate and enjoy a special lunch with the principal that includes games, food and treats donated by sponsors in the community.

Following are the character traits we will focus on this school year and the book that the principal will read to each class at the beginning of the month.

  • September: I Am Creative (The Dot, Peter Reynolds)
  • October: I Am a Self-Advocate (Say Something, Peter Reynolds)
  • November: I Am Mindful (I am Peace, Susan Verde)
  • December: I Can Show Empathy (I am Human, Susan Verde)
  • January: I Am Organized (So Few of Me, Peter Reynolds)
  • February: I Can Persevere (Go Left, Marc Colagiovanni)
  • March: I am Resilient (I am Courage, Susan Verde)
  • April: I Am Authentic (I am Me, Susan Verde)
  • May: I Am a Dreamer (Happy Dreamer, Peter Reynolds)
